Clinical Interventions & Counselling Hours: The Heart of Healing
At Somorpon Foundation, we recognize that recovery from addiction is not simply about abstaining from substances—it is about healing the whole person. While our program is rooted in the Therapeutic Community (TC) model, we place equal emphasis on structured clinical interventions and regular counselling sessions to address the complex emotional, psychological, and behavioral aspects of addiction.
Substance use disorders often stem from or are accompanied by trauma, anxiety, depression, unresolved grief, or other co-occurring mental health conditions. Our clinical interventions are evidence-based, designed to help each resident understand the roots of their addiction, develop new coping mechanisms, and build a healthy, drug-free life.
Individual Counselling
Each resident receives scheduled one-on-one counselling sessions with trained and licensed professionals. These sessions offer a safe and confidential space to explore deeply personal issues that may not arise in group settings.
Goals of individual counselling include:
- Exploring the underlying causes of addiction
- Addressing co-occurring mental health concerns
- Setting personal recovery goals
- Working through trauma or past experiences
- Creating a personalized relapse prevention plan
Counselors use proven therapeutic modalities such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Trauma-Informed Care to support lasting change.
Group Therapy
Group sessions are a cornerstone of our therapeutic community. Conducted multiple times per week, these sessions are facilitated by trained professionals and allow residents to:
- Share their experiences in a supportive environment
- Practice communication and emotional regulation skills
- Learn from others and reduce feelings of isolation
- Challenge and motivate each other toward growth
Group therapy themes may include:
- Addiction education
- Emotional processing
- Anger and stress management
- Family dynamics
- Peer accountability and leadership
Family Counselling
Addiction affects not just the individual, but also their family. When appropriate, family counselling sessions are arranged to:
- Rebuild trust and improve communication
- Educate family members about addiction and recovery
- Address enabling behaviors or codependency
- Prepare for reintegration after treatment
We believe that family involvement is essential to long-term recovery and healthy support systems.
Counselling Hours and Clinical Support
Our counselling services are available daily, and each resident has access to scheduled clinical hours throughout the week. Emergency support or additional sessions can be arranged as needed. Residents are also encouraged to approach counselors outside of scheduled hours when emotional support is required.
At Somorpon Foundation, clinical interventions are not separate from daily life—they are woven into the fabric of the recovery journey. Through compassionate counselling and evidence-based therapy, we help individuals not just stop using substances, but understand themselves, grow emotionally, and rebuild meaningful lives.
Healing happens here—one session, one insight, one conversation at a time.
